We drive into the hinterland of Pochutla to an authentic indigenous Mexico, completely away from any tourism. After about 50 minutes of driving we reach the river Rio Grande. Another 20 minutes later we reach our destination after a pleasant river hike.

And it is worth it. Swimming in the crystal clear river, in the middle of Mexico's wilderness, at a pleasant water temperature of 25 degrees, is always an extremely welcome change from the beach and the ocean.

Sitting between large stones in this setting and letting the water pressure massage your achy muscles is pure relaxation. In addition, the water of this river feels unusually soft. Small fish take care of your feet and give you a most welcome pedicure - free of charge of course.

Except for birds and other jungle sounds, as well as the gurgling water, nothing can be heard. Everything around is so pleasant that you don't want to leave the water ever again.​

For people with inner turmoil or other problems, bathing here in the river is a kind of quick therapy. Local people and shamans claim: this river takes your problems and disperses them in the sea. This is true.
