Laguna Chacahua

 

Chacahua is a sparsely populated island surrounded by a huge lagoon and the Pacific Ocean. At 30 square kilometers, the lagoon is a large part of the national park, which was established back in 1937.

It is a magical place with a perfect bathing beach and incredibly beautiful flora and fauna.

​

A boat safari through the lagoon's mangrove tunnels is an absolute must. During the day you can see the huge variety of animals and plants. During the night tours you can observe the incredible natural spectacle of bioluminescence and swim and snorkel in the middle of the phosphorescent plankton. Just breathtaking.

 

You get the first impression of the beauty of this lagoon during the 30 minute boat trip to the island.

 

We also offer boat tours on the Pacific (whale watching or fishing) by arrangement. However, for whale watching Zipolite is the better place. The fishing on the other hand, is excellent.

 

Surfing on the spectacularly long and consistent waves is absolutlely perfect for beginners. Locals will rent boards and give surf lessons at reasonable prices.

 

Fishing at the mouth of the lagoon to the sea is absolutely exciting. Due to the tides, fishing here is similar to fishing on a big river and the variety of fish leaves nothing to be desired.

 

Visits to the crocodile breeding station and then to the lighthouse are always worthwhile. At sunset, spectacular pictures are usually guaranteed.

 

Duration:  At least 2 days (one night)

Other:  Other: Accommodation is very basic. There is no luxury here. The Internet and thus mobile phones work very poorly and sometimes not at all.

The price includes Transport by boat to and from the island and 1 night's stay.

 

Not included in the price are the boat trips within the lagoon and on the Pazifk.  The prices are about the same as in our menu item "Sportfishing".
